Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed concern over the fitness of star forward Mohamed Salah, who suffered a hamstring injury during Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday. Salah, the joint top scorer in the Premier League, was forced to leave the field just before halftime.

In a press conference on Friday, Klopp provided an update on Salah’s condition, stating, “We don’t know anything about it. They are doing further assessments now, and then we will know more. At that moment he was shocked and couldn’t see why he was hit by something so intense.”

Salah’s injuries are a rarity, having missed only 10 league games in more than six seasons. Klopp acknowledged the significance of the situation, saying, “It is definitely something, but I don’t have any more information right now.”

The Liverpool manager also addressed the possibility of the club’s medical staff traveling to the Ivory Coast for further assessments, stating, “We will see. It depends on the diagnostics. We will have ultrasound and MRI, and then we will know what it is, and we will see and make plans, but it’s too early at the moment.”

As Liverpool prepares to face Bournemouth on Sunday, Klopp faces additional challenges with the potential absence of defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who injured his knee in the FA Cup third-round victory over Arsenal on January 7.

Klopp provided updates on the injured players, stating, “The injuries are all positive, but not ready. (Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, and Dominik Szoboszlai) are all going in the right direction, but we will see when they can join first-team training. I don’t expect them for Bournemouth.”

Despite the setbacks, Liverpool currently leads the Premier League with 45 points after 20 games, holding a two-point advantage over defending champions Manchester City. Klopp remains hopeful that the injured players will progress positively and contribute to the team in the near future.
