In the Spanish Super Cup Final on Sunday at the Al-Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid overcame FC Barcelona 4-1 thanks to a spectacular hat-trick from star winger Vinicius Jr.

Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, did not, however, find the Brazilian’s hat-trick sufficient.

“I told Vini he should’ve scored more goals. Three is not enough,” Perez said after the match.

Perez also praised Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, who has now led the team to 11 trophies.

“He [Ancelotti] is truly a coach who fits in very well with Madrid’s style, both in the way he understands football and in his behaviour. He fits very well,” he added.

Real Madrid dominated the encounter against the winners from the previous season, who showed no discernible emotion in front of Vinicius and finished with ten men. After two fouls on the Brazilian, defender Ronald Araujo was sent off in the 71st minute for a second yellow card.

Vinicius scored first in the seventh and tenth minutes, while Robert Lewandowski cut the score in the thirty-third.

Vinicius imitated the celebration that Cristiano Ronaldo made after he scored the first goal.

In the 39th minute, Vinicius increased Real Madrid’s lead with a penalty kick after Araujo had fouled him inside the box.

In the 64th minute of the second half, Rodrygo scored Real Madrid’s fourth goal off a rebound.

Xavi is the eighth Barcelona manager to surrender four or more goals in at least two games against Real Madrid in the whole history of the side, the first since Frank Rijkaard (4-2 in April 2005 and 4-1 in May 2008).

After being defeated by record 14-time winners Barcelona in the championship game last year, Real Madrid emerged victorious for the 13th time.
