The fitness camp for the national team, in preparation for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, began at the Kakul Academy in Abbottabad on Tuesday.

In the inaugural session, comprehensive medical examinations were conducted for each of the twenty-five participating players.

As per sources, Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Iftikhar Ahmed are slated to join the camp on Wednesday following their return from Saudi Arabia. Additionally, fast bowler Mohammad Amir is expected to reach the academy today.

The fitness camp is being supervised by Dr. Sohail Saleem, the head of the PCB medical commission, along with physio Cliffe Deacon and a trainer. Army trainers are also assisting in enhancing the players’ fitness levels.

The training camp is set to wrap up on April 8, just ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. The New Zealand team, also known as the Blackcaps, will arrive in Islamabad on April 14 and are scheduled to play three T20Is at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on April 18, 20, and 21. After these matches, the teams will relocate to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for the remaining two T20Is on April 25 and 27.
