Kobe Bryant’s 2000 NBA Championship ring was sold for almost $1 million in an auction, as stated by Daily Mail.

The auction ended with the highest bid of $927,000 for the ring that marks Bryant’s first NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers.

This transaction established a new record for the priciest NBA championship ring, according to the auctioneer, Goldin.

The previous record was set by a 2021 auction that featured Bill Russell’s 1957 championship ring with the Boston Celtics.

The ring was initially a present from Bryant to his father, Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant.

This ring is an extra replica of the championship prize Kobe received, specifically requested by him to give to his father more than twenty years ago.

Goldin clarified that this is not a corporate version of the championship ring, but the exact ring that was given to Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and other Lakers players.

This is the identical ring that the Bryant family tried to sell in 2013, causing a controversy for possibly giving up a piece of NBA history. More than a decade later, a sale has been accomplished.

Bryant’s ring, which features 40 diamonds set in a 14-karat piece and also includes the No. 8, worn by Bryant during the first ten years of his NBA career, received over 40 bids, according to Goldin.

Goldin did not reveal the identity of the new owner.
