Fast bowler Haris Rauf has expressed his backing for the young talents Saim Ayub and Azam Khan, even though they didn’t shine in Pakistan’s second T20I match against England.

In that game, Saim could only make 2 runs from 7 balls, while Azam scored 11 runs off 10 balls. Despite the flak they’ve received from certain circles, Rauf’s confidence in their abilities hasn’t wavered.

At a press conference before the third T20I against England, Rauf vocalized his support for the duo.

“Sometimes your performance as a player might not be up to the mark. But you should have confidence in your abilities, and just like that player has won matches on numerous occasions in the past at different stages. We can never doubt them. Obviously, when you back such players, their innings will click, and they will start delivering better performances,” Rauf remarked.

It’s important to note that Pakistan was defeated by England in the second T20I in Birmingham by 23 runs, after being all out for 160 in pursuit of 184 runs. The series’ third T20I is scheduled for Tuesday in Cardiff.
