IRE vs PAK: Pakistan thump Ireland in series decider
In a recent T20I series, Pakistan emerged victorious against Ireland, winning the series 2-1 with a six-wicket victory in the final match at the Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin.
Despite a five-wicket loss in the first match, the team led by Babar Azam made a remarkable comeback, winning the remaining matches with impressive performances.
In the third T20I, Pakistan had a challenging start in their pursuit of a 179-run target, with opener Saim Ayub scoring only 14 runs before being dismissed. However, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan stepped up, forming a 139-run partnership that not only led Pakistan to victory but also set a new record.
The duo became the first to accumulate 3,000 runs in partnerships and the first to achieve ten-century stands. The next closest pair is India’s Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, with five-century partnerships.
Babar also achieved a personal first by hitting three consecutive sixes and four in a single over against Benjamin White.
After Rizwan (56 off 38) and Babar (75 off 42) were dismissed, Azam Khan (18 off 6) helped Pakistan reach the target in 17 overs.
In the first innings, Pakistan limited Ireland to 178/7. Ireland lost Ross Adair (7) early on after being put into bat by Pakistan, with Shaheen Afridi taking his wicket in the third over.
Andy Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker accelerated the scoring rate, reaching 100 in 10.4 overs before Balbarine (35) was dismissed by Abbas Afridi.
Tucker continued his aggressive batting, scoring 73 runs off 41 balls, including 13 fours and a six, before being dismissed by Imad Wasim.
Pakistan continued to apply pressure, with Shaheen dismissing Neil Rock (4), Mohammad Amir taking out George Dockrell (6), and Abbas Afridi removing Curtis Campher (1).
Shaheen Shah Afridi was the standout performer for Pakistan, conceding only 14 runs and taking three wickets in four overs.
