Mohammad Amir, a fast bowler for Pakistan, did not accompany the national cricket team when they departed on Tuesday morning. His visa status remains unclear, according to a report by ESPN Cricinfo.

Amir, who is 32 years old, made a comeback to international cricket last month after a four-year hiatus. He played in four matches of a T20I series against New Zealand at home. He was selected for the T20I series against Ireland and England, which was announced earlier this month.

Amir has become a permanent resident of the United Kingdom because of his marriage to British citizen Narjis Khatun. He has visited Ireland before in 2018, but he has not yet received his visa for this year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is continuously communicating with Cricket Ireland. The PCB believes that it is the host’s responsibility to ensure the visa is issued on time. Mohammad Yousuf, a member of Pakistan’s management, also experienced a delay in his visa, but he received it in time to travel with the team.

Both the PCB and Amir are still waiting for the visa as the Pakistani team is expected to arrive in Dublin on Wednesday morning. They will play all three T20Is there.

It’s important to note that once Pakistan’s tour of Ireland is over, they will head to the United Kingdom to participate in a four-match T20I series before the start of the T20 World Cup 2024.
