Pakistan team to depart for USA in two groups
Today, the Pakistan cricket squad is scheduled to split into two groups and head from London to Dallas, United States, in preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024.
The first group will be composed of 19 individuals, encompassing both players and staff, while the second group will include nine members.
On their tour, Pakistan engaged in T20I series against both Ireland and England.
In a surprising turn, Ireland claimed victory over Pakistan by five wickets in the opening match of their three-game series. However, Pakistan bounced back, securing wins in the subsequent two games—by seven wickets in the second, and six wickets in the third.
Pakistan had a promising start in defending a target of 183 runs, with Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi taking two early wickets. Despite this, they were unable to contain Andrew Balbirnie and Harry Tector in the series opener.
Pakistan redeemed themselves in the second T20I, achieving the 194-run goal in under 17 overs.
In the series finale, Pakistan emerged victorious over Ireland, posting a score of 181 for 4, with Babar scoring 75 and Rizwan 56, while Mark Adair took 3 wickets for 28 runs. Ireland finished at 178 for 7.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s four-match series against England was affected by the weather, with two games being abandoned due to rain.
England secured a win over Pakistan by 23 runs in the second match on Saturday, May 25. They continued their winning streak in the final match on Thursday, taking the game by 7 wickets.
Pakistan is set to commence their T20 World Cup campaign with a match against the USA on Thursday, June 6, in Dallas.
