Babar, five other players extend stay in US after T20 World Cup exit
Following Pakistan’s exit from the T20 World Cup, the squad is preparing to head back home, with the exception of five players, including team captain Babar Azam, who have chosen to prolong their stay in the United States.
The group left Miami on Monday evening and will continue their journey to Pakistan on June 19th via various flights from Dubai to their respective cities.
The players remaining in the US are Babar, Haris Rauf, Imad Wasim, Azam Khan, and Mohammad Amir. They will travel independently.
Gary Kirsten, the national cricket team’s head coach, plans to return to his home country after the World Cup concludes.
Sources indicate that Babar Azam is scheduled to return on Saturday (June 22), while Amir will spend an extra day or two in the US before heading to England to join Derbyshire’s cricket team.
Pakistan was unable to advance to the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup, having lost their initial matches against newcomers US and long-time rivals India.
The team’s only victories in the tournament were against Canada and Ireland.
