Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly distraught as he exited the pitch, tears streaming down his face, following Al Nassr’s heart-wrenching defeat to Al Hilal in the Saudi King’s Cup final during a penalty shootout.

The scene was poignant in Jeddah on Friday, with the Al Nassr icon being consoled by his team and staff after the narrow 5-4 loss to Al Hilal.

Ronaldo, a recipient of the Ballon d’Or five times, was escorted from the field, visibly shaken, and remained emotional while seated on the sidelines before receiving his second-place medal.

Al Hilal emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, securing both the league and cup titles, despite the match concluding in a 1-1 draw after regular and extra time, as reported by ESPN.

This defeat marks a challenging season for Ronaldo and Al Nassr, who ended up second in the league, far behind Al Hilal.

Nonetheless, Ronaldo’s season was marked by personal triumphs, including an impressive tally of 35 goals in his inaugural full season in the Saudi Pro League.

Al Hilal’s victory was achieved even though their marquee Brazilian player Neymar was sidelined for most of the season due to a knee injury sustained in October, following his move from Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar supported his squad from the stands during the Friday match.

Ronaldo is now preparing to link up with the Portugal national team for the upcoming European Championship hosted in Germany this month.
