ICC announces match officials for T20 World Cup semi-finals
The ICC has disclosed the lineup of match officials for the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals scheduled for June 27, to be held in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
In the first semi-final, South Africa will compete against Afghanistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on June 27, with Richard Illingworth and Nitin Menon serving as the on-field umpires, Richard Kettleborough as the TV Umpire, and Ahsan Raza as the Fourth Umpire.
Afghanistan will make its debut in an ICC tournament semi-final after triumphing over Bangladesh, advancing to the final four.
Both South Africa and Afghanistan are vying for their first T20 World Cup final. South Africa has previously made it to the semi-finals in 2009 and 2014 but did not win.
The second semi-final will feature a rematch of the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final with England facing India. Chris Gaffaney and Rodney Tucker will officiate the match.
England, led by Jos Buttler, previously defeated India with a 10-wicket victory, achieving a 169-run target in 16 overs. India, now captained by Rohit Sharma, is seeking to even the score.
The TV Umpire for this match will be Joel Wilson, with Paul Reiffel as the Fourth Umpire, taking place in Guyana on June 27.
