In a nail-biting T20 World Cup 2024 match at Arnos Vale Ground, South Africa narrowly defeated Nepal by one run.

Nepal was close to reaching South Africa’s 116-run target but faltered towards the end due to South Africa’s effective wicket-taking.

Aasif Sheikh and AK Sah’s partnership brought Nepal to 85-2, but South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi, with 4-19 in four overs, and Ottneil Baartman’s composed final over ensured their win.

The last ball drama saw Gulsan Jha miss a run-scoring opportunity, leading to a run-out and South Africa’s victory.

Reflecting on the match, South Africa captain Markram stated, “Very grateful to have got the win, we were not near our best tonight. Reflecting back on the game over the next few days, there will be a lot of learnings for us.”

He also mentioned potential changes and the importance of adaptability in cricket.
