In a recent discussion, ex-Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif disclosed his selection for Pakistan’s team for the upcoming game against the United States on June 6 in Dallas, amidst the T20 World Cup 2024 activities.

On the platform X, previously known as Twitter, Latif included two main spin bowlers, Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan, in his lineup for Pakistan. Notably absent was fast bowler Naseem Shah.

Latif, who also kept wickets during his career, mentioned he would have opted for either Salman Ali Agha or Mohammad Haris to join the squad, had they been available.

Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Usman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed.

Previously, Latif had emphasized the importance of Rizwan as the wicketkeeper for Pakistan, citing his pivotal role in leading the team from that position over the past four years. He suggested that sudden changes might not be beneficial for the team’s dynamics.

Latif said, “The team has two wicketkeepers, Usman Khan and Rizwan. I suggest that wicketkeeping should be done by a senior player,” and “Rizwan was running the game from behind for the last four years [but] now you have removed that guard.”

He also expressed concerns over Pakistan’s recent struggles, attributing them to an improper team combination and the need for players to adapt to flexible roles in T20 cricket, depending on the demands of the match situation.

Latif added, “They are not getting their combination right, which is their biggest problem. Not only shuffle, but players need to be prepared to play at floating roles now in T20 cricket as per the match situation.”
