Shaheen Shah Afridi, the fast bowler from Pakistan, has expressed that thoughts of captaincy never cross his mind as his dedication lies with his nation.

Recently, Shaheen became a topic of discussion due to a conflict with Mohammad Yousuf during Pakistan’s England tour preceding the T20 World Cup 2024.

Following claims from Lahore that the coaching staff and management had reported Shaheen’s behavior to the PCB chairman, it was revealed that Afridi had indeed had a heated argument with Yousuf, which he later apologized for.

“All team members are my friends. I was raised well and I always fight for my country,” he stated.

“I never think about captaincy. My prime focus is to represent my country and would never bring negativity into the team,” he continued.

Subsequent to the surfacing of his supposed misbehavior with Yousuf, there were indications that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) might impose disciplinary measures on Shaheen Afridi, potentially excluding him from the forthcoming home Test series against Bangladesh.

In response to inquiries about these speculations, Shaheen disclosed his lack of awareness regarding such gossip.

“I don’t know if I’m being dropped from the Test series [against Bangladesh]. My role is to play cricket and I would do that with dignity,” he concluded.
