Ex-Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal disclosed that his widely discussed animated conversation with ex-Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh centered on Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. This exchange occurred post the World Championship of Legends match featuring Pakistan Legends against India Legends.

Harbhajan was recently criticized on social media for laughing during a Star Sports segment when questioned about who the superior batsman was between Babar Azam and Brian Lara.

Akmal pointed out that there’s no basis for comparing Azam and Lara, yet it’s inappropriate to ridicule the Pakistan captain. As reported by OneCricket, Akmal stated:

“Then we talked, and you might have seen Babar being mocked. No doubt, Babar is also a great batsman in Pakistan cricket; he has scored the most hundreds for Pakistan. No doubt, Brian Lara and Babar’s class don’t match, and they shouldn’t be compared. But as cricketers, we shouldn’t mock anyone.”

He also mentioned that Harbhajan acknowledged his error in making light of Babar Azam during the broadcast.

“So I talked about it, and he (Harbhajan) also agreed that it shouldn’t have happened from his side either,” Akmal further commented.

Babar Azam has faced intense criticism from cricket pundits and ex-players following Pakistan’s subpar showing at the T20 World Cup in 2024.
