In a commanding performance, Pakistan triumphed over India with a 68-run victory during the World Championship of Legends 2024’s eighth match at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium on Saturday.

Securing their third victory, Younis Khan’s team now leads the six-team league’s standings, having previously bested Australia and the West Indies.

Pakistan set a formidable score of 243/4 after batting first. Sharjeel Khan and Kamran Akmal gave Pakistan a fiery start, amassing 145 runs until Sharjeel was out in the 11th over with a swift 72 off 30 balls, including seven boundaries and five sixes. Kamran Akmal maintained the momentum, scoring 77 off 40 balls until his dismissal by Pawan Negi in the 14th over.

Sohaib Maqsood contributed a robust 51 off 26 balls, while Shahid Afridi was dismissed for a duck, and Shoaib Malik remained unbeaten with 25 off 18 balls.

India’s response began assertively with Robin Uthappa making a quick 22 off 12 balls, but his wicket fell to Sohail Khan. Ambati Rayadu and Suresh Raina formed a challenging partnership, but Shoaib Malik claimed Rayadu’s wicket at 39, increasing the pressure on India.

Despite Malik’s efforts to contain the scoring, India struggled to pick up the pace. Wahab Riaz intensified the situation by taking out Irfan Pathan (15) and Pawan Negi (1) in a single over.

Malik ended with three wickets for 38 runs, and Wahab Riaz impressed with 3/22.
