The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a revamped selection committee after a few days of dismissing the previous one.

This committee is composed of distinguished ex-players Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq, alongside notable coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten.

Captains Shan Masood and Babar Azam, who lead the men’s white-ball and red-ball squads, will have significant input in the committee’s decisions.

The committee’s inaugural responsibility is to assemble the team for the forthcoming Test series with Bangladesh, which Pakistan will host next month.

Candidates for the team will be put through stringent fitness tests at a training camp before the final team is chosen.

It’s important to highlight that Bilal Afzal won’t serve on this committee but will take on a different role within the PCB. Hassan Cheema, the data analyst, and Usman Wahla, the Director of International cricket, won’t be part of the committee either.

Remarkably, ex-cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been dismissed from the selection committee.

This move comes in the wake of Pakistan’s underwhelming performance at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where they didn’t advance past the group stage.

On Wednesday morning, the PCB confirmed these changes, stating, “It has notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee setup.”
