Ahmed Daniyal’s explosive finish, featuring five sixes in the final over, propelled the Lions to a challenging 264-run target against the Stallions in the first Eliminator of the Champions One-Day Cup at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on Wednesday.

Opting to bat first, Imam-ul-Haq’s side posted a total of 263/9 in 50 overs. The Lions struggled early on, with top-order batter Rohail Nazir dismissed for 4 runs off 8 balls when Ubaid Shah struck in the 2.2 overs. Shah also pulled off a spectacular catch to remove captain Imam-ul-Haq for 23 runs off 32 balls, which included three boundaries.

Mohammad Taha narrowly missed a half-century, contributing 47 runs with 2 fours and 2 sixes from 59 deliveries. Aamer Yamin (46 off 57) and Ahmed Daniyal (65 off 59) added crucial runs, helping the Lions push their total past 260. Aamer Yamin was run out by Stallions captain Mohammad Haris at the end of the 44th over.

Several players, including Omair Yousuf (4), Irfan Khan (7), Khushdil Shah (2), Sirajuddin (7), and Faisal Akram (2), struggled to reach double figures. Faisal Akram, however, partnered with Ahmed Daniyal, who hammered five sixes to close the innings in style.

The Stallions’ bowlers made their mark, with Ubaid Shah taking three wickets, while Haris Rauf claimed one and Adil Amin and Maaz Sadaqat bagged two wickets each.
