Pakistan is set to face England again at Multan for the second Test of the three-match series, scheduled from October 15 to 19. The home team suffered a heavy defeat in the first match, losing by an innings and 47 runs despite a strong first innings score of 556. Pakistan’s second innings, however, saw them collapse for just 220 runs, unable to withstand England’s impressive bowling attack.

England’s batting lineup dominated, amassing a monumental 823 runs. Joe Root shone with a double century, while Harry Brook’s triple century added to Pakistan’s challenges.

Although Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal fought back with half-centuries, their efforts fell short of saving the match. This defeat extends Pakistan’s losing streak under captain Shan Masood to six consecutive Test matches, following a 3-0 series loss to England earlier this year and a 2-0 home series loss to Bangladesh.

In the latest ICC World Test Championship points table, India leads with 98 points from 11 matches, boasting a 74.24% winning rate. Australia is close behind with 90 points from 12 matches, and Sri Lanka stands third with 60 points from 9 matches. England holds fourth place with 93 points over 17 matches, while South Africa and New Zealand sit at fifth and sixth, respectively. Bangladesh is in seventh place with 33 points, followed by the West Indies with 20 points. Pakistan, currently ninth, has just 16 points from 8 matches, reflecting a difficult tournament so far.

As Pakistan prepares for the upcoming Test, they aim to recover from the recent setbacks and improve their standing in the World Test Championship.
