Former England captain Joe Root has etched his name among cricketing greats by equaling the double-century records of Pakistan legends Javed Miandad and Younis Khan.

Root achieved this feat with a monumental innings of 262 runs during the opening Test of the three-match series against Pakistan in Multan. This remarkable performance places him in an elite group of players who have scored six double-centuries in Test cricket.

With this innings, Root surpasses iconic players such as Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, and Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas, further solidifying his status as one of the modern greats of the game.

He now joins the ranks of other cricketing stars, including Kane Williamson and Virender Sehwag, who have also recorded six double tons in Test cricket.

At the top of the leaderboard for most double centuries in Test history is the legendary Sir Don Bradman, with an impressive 12 double tons.

He is followed closely by former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara, who scored 11 double centuries, and West Indies great Brian Lara, who amassed nine.
