ICC schedules meeting on Nov 29 for Champions Trophy 2025, expected as key decision
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has scheduled a board meeting for November 29 to discuss the future of the Champions Trophy 2025, which will be hosted in Pakistan.
According to reports, the meeting will address the tournament’s scheduling and explore various options for its organization. Among the proposed alternatives are hosting the event under a hybrid model, relocating it entirely from Pakistan, or postponing the tournament.
Sources suggest that if Pakistan refuses the hybrid model, efforts may be made to strip its hosting rights through voting or by offering financial incentives to alter its stance.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains firm on hosting the entire event within the country. PCB officials have stated they will neither share hosting rights with another country nor accept additional financial compensation as an alternative.
The matter has also been complicated by India’s refusal to play in Pakistan. Pakistan, on the other hand, continues to reject the hybrid model proposal.
Due to the impasse, the ICC has yet to announce the tournament’s schedule, leaving the future of the Champions Trophy uncertain.
