Former England captain Michael Vaughan recently placed Babar Azam among his top three Pakistani batters of all time. During Pakistan’s ODI series against Australia, where the team clinched a historic 2-1 victory under newly appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan, Vaughan, who was part of the broadcast team, shared his views on Pakistan’s top batting talents with former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist.

The series marked Pakistan’s first ODI series win on Australian soil since 2002. After losing the opening match narrowly by two wickets, Pakistan made an impressive comeback to secure an eight-wicket win in the final game in Perth, sealing the series victory.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan ranked Babar Azam as his third-best Pakistani batter of all time. Vaughan acknowledged that while Babar has faced recent challenges in Test cricket, he remains confident in Babar’s ability to regain his form soon.

“I am going to go with a modern-day player, a modern-day asset. Just lost his place in the Test team, but I’m sure he’ll get it back. He is world-class across all formats,” Michael Vaughan said.

“His average is 47 across those formats, and in ODIs, he’s nearly averaging 57.”

Vaughan ranked former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq as the second-greatest batter from Pakistan, emphasizing Inzamam’s skill for powerful hitting and his impressive big-shot capability.

“The Big Inzy… you get him across all formats. He didn’t rely on running between wickets. He didn’t need to because he could just whack it out of the ground,” he said.

Vaughan placed the legendary Javed Miandad at the top of his list, naming him the greatest Pakistani batter of all time.

“I had this player in my top three Pakistan players of all time two nights ago – Javed Miandad. What a player,” Vaughan said.

“Just a wonderful competitor! Back in the 80s, skill and ferocity. He was probably the first I ever saw who swept the ball brilliantly across all formats.”
