Pakistan’s all-rounder Haris Sohail has dismissed recent rumors about his retirement, labeling them “baseless.” The cricketer voiced his disappointment over false reports circulating on social media and assured fans of his commitment to the game.

“I have not made any decision to retire, nor do I have any such intention. My full focus is on continuing to play the game that I love,” Haris stated.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that no official communication had been received regarding Haris’s retirement. A PCB representative reportedly spoke to the player, who categorically denied the claims.

Haris, who debuted for Pakistan in 2013, has represented the national team in 16 Tests, 45 ODIs, and 14 T20Is, amassing 2,806 runs with four centuries and 17 half-centuries across formats.

His most recent international appearance was in January 2023 during a home ODI series against New Zealand. Selected by then-chief selector Shahid Afridi, Haris scored 32, 10, and 22 in three matches, failing to make a strong impact.

Despite his performance, Haris was included in the squad for another ODI series against New Zealand in April 2023. However, an injury sustained just before the first match ruled him out of the entire series.

Haris’s statement and PCB’s clarification have put an end to the speculation, reaffirming his focus on making a comeback to Pakistan cricket.
