Pakistan defeated India by 43 runs in their opening match of the U19 Asia Cup on Saturday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Green Shirts’ win came amid ongoing tensions between the neighboring countries in the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan’s formidable bowling attack led the way as they bowled out India for 238 runs while chasing a target of 282. Ali Raza spearheaded the attack, taking three wickets, while Abdul Subhan and Faham-ul-Haq claimed two wickets each. Naveed Ahmed Khan played a key role by dismissing Nikhil Kumar, who had scored 67 runs, including six fours and three sixes, making him the highest run-scorer for India.

Pakistan’s Usman Khan, who scored 60 runs in the first innings, also played a part in India’s downfall by dismissing Mohammad Aman. India’s innings ended in the 48th over, as they were all out for 238.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, putting up 281 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Usman Khan and Shahzaib Khan shared a strong 160-run opening partnership. Shahzaib played a standout innings, scoring 159 runs off 147 balls, including five boundaries and 10 sixes, setting a new record for the most sixes in U19 ODIs.

However, after the opening stand, Pakistan experienced a batting collapse, with only Mohammad Riaz reaching double figures. India’s Samarth Nagaraj took three Pakistani wickets during the innings.
