Tinotenda Maposa’s six off Jahandad Khan in the final over guided Zimbabwe to a tense victory over Pakistan in the third and final T20I at Queen Sports Club in Bulawayo on Thursday.
Pakistan posted a total of 132-7 after opting to bat first, with Salman Ali Agha top-scoring with a run-a-ball 32. The team faced early setbacks, losing Sahibzada Farhan, Omair Yousuf, and Usman Khan during the powerplay. Farhan was dismissed for 4 off 7 balls, while Yousuf failed to score, falling to Blessing Muzarabani. Usman Khan also departed cheaply, scoring just 8.
Tayyab Tahir showed some promise with a quick-fire 21 off 14 balls, including two boundaries and a six, before falling to Maposa. Qasim Akram contributed 20 off 15 balls, hitting three boundaries, before being dismissed by Ryan Burl. Arafat Minhas remained unbeaten on 22 off 26 balls, and Abbas Afridi made a quick 15 off 14 balls with three boundaries. Jahandad Khan also remained not out, hitting a six.
Muzarabani was the standout bowler for Zimbabwe, claiming 2 wickets for 25 runs. Maskadza, Ngarava, Maposa, and Burl each picked up a wicket, with Maposa’s crucial last-over six ensuring Zimbabwe’s victory.
For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza and Brian Bennett went wicketless but contributed to the team’s successful effort.
