CAPE TOWN: A moment of tension unfolded during the second inning of the ongoing Test match at Newlands Stadium on Monday, as South African bowler Wiaan Mulder’s actions visibly angered Pakistan’s top batter, Babar Azam.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, sparking discussions across platforms.
South Africa had failed to take a single wicket, with Pakistan’s score standing at 141 runs. In a moment of frustration, Mulder threw the ball at Babar Azam after delivering a defensive shot.
Instead of aiming the ball toward the stumps as expected, Mulder deliberately threw it in the direction of Babar, who was standing some distance away from the wicket. The bowler’s act left Babar visibly upset, struggling to maintain his composure.
Babar responded by glaring at Mulder and pointing to the stumps, signaling where the ball should have been directed.
As the situation escalated, South African player Aiden Markram intervened to calm tensions.
Former cricketer Ramiz Raja commented on the exchange, saying, “Babar usually doesn’t react; he is a very composed individual. But today, even he seemed upset,”.
By the end of Day 3, Pakistan had reached 213 runs for the loss of one wicket, trailing South Africa by 208 runs. South Africa needed eight more wickets to seal the victory.
