Pakistan claimed a 127-run victory over West Indies in the opening Test of the 2025 series, securing a 1-0 lead after an action-packed third day. The thrilling match saw 17 wickets tumble within two sessions, highlighting the brilliance of Pakistan’s spin trio—Sajid Khan, Noman Ali, and Abrar Ahmed.

Dominant Spin Attack Secures Victory

After setting up a target of 251 runs, Pakistan’s bowlers dominated West Indies’ chase. Sajid Khan, with 5-50, delivered crucial breakthroughs by removing skipper Kraigg Brathwaite, Mikyle Louis, and Kavem Hodge early. West Indies, reduced to 37-4, were unable to recover. Noman Ali chipped in with a vital wicket before lunch, leaving the visitors in disarray at 54-5.

Alick Athanaze fought back with a determined 55-run knock—the only half-century for West Indies—but succumbed to Sajid’s sharp bowling. Abrar Ahmed wrapped up the tail, taking 4-27 and finishing the match with a superb display, including a stunning slip catch by Salman Agha. West Indies were bowled out for just 123 in 36.3 overs, handing Pakistan a decisive win.

Jomel Warrican’s Heroics Fall Short

Pakistan’s batting displayed mixed performances. Despite a strong first-innings stand of 84 runs by Saud Shakeel and 71 by Mohammad Rizwan, the team faltered in the second innings. Pakistan collapsed to 157 all out, with Jomel Warrican producing a career-best performance, taking 7-32.

However, West Indies couldn’t capitalize on their momentum as Pakistan’s spin trio dominated the day. Sajid’s early strikes, supported by Noman and Abrar’s breakthroughs, dismantled the West Indies lineup.

Pakistan Leads 1-0 Ahead of Second Test

The match at Karachi showcased Pakistan’s strength on home soil. The spin-friendly conditions, combined with outstanding performances by Sajid, Noman, and Abrar, proved too much for the visitors.

West Indies now faces an uphill task of regrouping and addressing their batting frailties ahead of the second Test. Meanwhile, Pakistan will look to carry on their winning momentum and clinch the series.
