LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally inducted former captains Inzamam-ul-Haq and Misbah-ul-Haq into its prestigious Hall of Fame, acknowledging their immense contributions to the national team.

The recognition ceremony took place during the opening match of the tri-nation ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand, where PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi presented both cricketers with commemorative caps and plaques.

Inzamam and Misbah then took a lap around the stadium, receiving a rousing reception from the crowd in appreciation of their legendary careers.

The two former captains were included in the PCB Hall of Fame class of 2024 alongside Saeed Anwar and Mushtaq Ahmed, who are yet to be formally inducted.

The PCB Hall of Fame, established to honor Pakistan’s cricketing greats, already includes iconic names such as Abdul Qadir, A.H. Kardar, Fazal Mahmood, Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Younis Khan, and Zaheer Abbas.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s all-time highest run-scorer in ODIs with 11,701 runs and the third-highest Test scorer with 8,829 runs, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition.

“I am deeply honoured to be inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame, joining a group of remarkable cricketers from my generation and those before me. To be recognized by the parent organization of Pakistan cricket is truly special, and I hope this initiative continues to inspire current and future generations of cricketers,” said Inzamam.

Misbah-ul-Haq, known for his calm leadership and instrumental role in taking Pakistan to the No.1 spot in the ICC Test rankings in 2016, also expressed his appreciation for the honour.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled to be inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame, joining a distinguished group of Pakistan’s finest cricketers who have not only excelled in the game but have also elevated the country’s image on the global stage,” Misbah shared.
