COLOMBO: In the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, South Africa set a 306-run target for Pakistan under the DLS method after scoring 312 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs. The match was reduced to 40 overs per side due to heavy rain.

Earlier, the Pakistan captain opted to bowl first after winning the toss, hoping to restrict South Africa to a low total. However, strong batting performances helped South Africa post an impressive score before the rain interrupted play.

The game was temporarily stopped due to torrential rain in Colombo, forcing officials to adjust the match format.

Pakistan’s chances of reaching the semi-finals now appear slim, as the team has earned only two points so far and has yet to win a single match in the tournament. In contrast, South Africa, with eight points, has already secured a place in the semi-finals.

Pakistan’s campaign has been challenging, with one of their matches abandoned due to rain. The team also missed outdoor practice before this game because of bad weather; instead, they trained indoors with batting, bowling, and gym sessions led by coaches focusing on power-hitting and skill development.
