First ODI: Pakistan defeats Sri Lanka by 6 runs

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 runs in the first ODI of the series at Rawalpindi Stadium.

Batting first, Pakistan set a target of 300 runs, scoring 299 for 5 in their 50 overs. Salman Ali Agha played a brilliant unbeaten century, scoring 105 runs, while Hussein Talat contributed 62 runs. Fakhar Zaman made 32, Babar Azam 29, Saim Ayub 6, and Mohammad Rizwan 5. Mohammad Nawaz remained not out with 36 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga took 3 wickets, while Mahesh Theekshana and Asitha Fernando claimed 1 each.

Chasing 300, Sri Lanka managed 294 for 9 in 50 overs. Hasaranga top-scored with 59, while Sadeera Samarawickrama made 39, Kamil Mishara 38, captain Charith Asalanka 32, Pathum Nissanka 29, and Janith Liyanage 28. Mahesh Theekshana remained unbeaten at 21.

For Pakistan, Haris Rauf took 4 wickets, Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah took 2 each, and Mohammad Nawaz added 1 wicket. The narrow win gave Pakistan an early lead in the ODI series.
