Mohammad Amir, a fast bowler for Quetta Gladiators, lost his temper during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against Lahore Qalandars at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Sunday.

Amir, whose cricket career has been fraught with challenges, was incensed when a spectator labeled him a “fixer”. In response to the offensive taunts, he shot back, “Is this what you learn at your home?”

This episode brought back reminders of a grim period in Amir’s career. In 2010, his promising trajectory in cricket took a severe hit when he was embroiled in a spot-fixing scandal at Lord’s, exposed by a sting operation conducted by a British newspaper.

Amir, along with his teammates Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, suffered harsh repercussions, including cricket bans and prison terms.

Despite these hardships, Amir garnered sympathy from many due to his youth at the time of the incident. After completing his ban, he returned to international cricket in 2016.

Notably, Amir’s team, Quetta, clinched a spot in the playoffs of the ongoing PSL season nine following a nail-biting finish against Lahore.
