The striker, who is 23 years old, is one of the numerous players who did not participate in the Super Eagles’ friendlies in the United States, but have been named for the Africa Cup qualifiers.

The remaining players are Ahmed Musa, the team’s captain, Leon Balogun, Zaidu Sanusi, Adebayo Adeleye, Sadiq Umar, and Shehu Abdullahi.

Adewale Adeyinka, the goalkeeper for Akwa United, and Sani Faisal, the defender for Katsina, are the only two players from the local league to make the final roster for the international friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador in the United States.

Nigeria hosts Sierra Leone on June 9 in Abuja before traveling to Morocco on June 14 to face Sao Tome and Principe in another Group A match.
