After capturing his 14th French Open championship, Rafael Nadal is now halfway to his goal of winning all four Grand Slam tournaments in 2018.

Since Ron Laver in 1969, no one has accomplished the feat, with Novak Djokovic coming short last year in the US Open final.

The victory at Roland Garros earlier this month gave the Spaniard 22 Grand Slam singles trophies, two more than Djokovic and Federer.

Nadal won the latest of his two Wimbledon titles in 2010, two years after capturing the first in an epic victory over Federer.

Having played the entirety of the French Open with his troublesome left foot anesthetized, his durability for the two weeks at Wimbledon was in question.

Since then, the 36-year-old second seed has undergone radiofrequency stimulation, a therapy intended to alleviate nerve pain in his foot.

Nadal, who will face Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina in his opening encounter, stated, “I can walk normal most of the days, almost every single day,”

“When I wake up, I don’t have this pain that I was having for the last year and a half.”

Swiatek’s most recent match was a decisive victory over Coco Gauff in the final of the French Open, marking her 35th consecutive victory.

Wimbledon will test the skills of the Polish top seed to maintain his winning streak. Even though she was the 2018 junior champion, her greatest result occurred in 2017 when she advanced to the fourth round.

“Grass is always tricky,” said the 21-year-old. “I actually like the part that I have no expectations there. It’s something kind of refreshing.”
