Facebook recently introduced a new tool for the campaign against fake news and misinformation, whereby users will be warned if they were involved in any false information or fake news regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, Facebook has also taken several steps to spread accurate information about Coronavirus to people in Pakistan, Facebook took initiatives in cooperation with the National Institutes of Health and the World Health Organization to inform people factual news and information related COVID-19 .

Facebook and Instagram introduced pre-show features which provide users information from the World Health Organization,Pakistan’s National Institutes of Health and prominent organizations working in the health sector.

Whenever anything related to Coronavirus is searched by a Facebook user in Pakistan, the Facebook Artificial System will send the users information from the World Health Organization, then the National Institutes of Health for Pakistan and then prominent health organizations working in Pakistan or globally.

Facebook has teamed up with global organizations like Pakistan’s Ministry of Health, WHO and UNICEF to provide accurate information about the Coronavirus from these features.

Likewise, Facebook has temporarily banned the listing of advertising and commerce in the world including Pakistan in which medical goods are sold.

Facebook has also banned advertisements from unauthorized companies selling medical goods, including sanitizers and face masks, and is also helping governments publicize messages from health-related organizations.

Facebook administration stated that they are determined to prevent any misinformation about the Coronavirus in Pakistan and is working with local and global health agencies to ensure the initiatives.
