Twitter issues warning over misleading Coronavirus information

Widely-used social media platform, Twitter announces to add labels and warning messages on tweets which mislead people with false information about Coronavirus.

The new labels from Twitter will provide more information about places to cause harm and can cause risk from the tweet which is not severe enough to be removed but people could misled, Twitter said.

The company said that warnings may add to say the tweet conflicts guidance from health experts before a user sees it, will lead to the type of misleading information in the tweet.

According to Twitter, these labels will also apply to tweets that have sent before the announcement and will be used unknowingly of who the sender is.

Social media sites, including Facebook and YouTube are under pressure to combat misinformation that has spread on their platforms about the Coronavirus outbreak.

Such false claims have ranged to misinformation linking the virus with theories bases on conspiracies about high-profile figures such as Microsoft co-founder turned philanthropist Bill Gates or about 5G mobile phone technology.
