The wait is finally over as Apple is reportedly planning to launch a replacement for the Apple Watch Series 3 that competes with lower-cost fitness trackers.

According to the international news source, the tech giant is likely to launch a new series at its virtual event on September 15.

Jon Prosser, a tech analyst, said in a tweet that the new model will feature a similar design as the Apple Series 4, with 40mm and 44mm sizes to be available.

Prosser said that some new features are not likely to be available in the lower-priced watches. New features such as the ECG app and an always-on display are not likely to appear.

On the other hand, he also reported that the cheaper model will include the M9 chip, which is one of Apple’s older motion coprocessors found in devices like the iPhone 6s, the original iPhone SE, and the fifth-generation iPad.

Tech giant Apple traditionally holds its fall event in the month of September to announce new iPhones and other devices. As the company has launched every new iPhone in September since 2012.

However, Apple will hold a virtual event this time.
