A plan has been drawn up to run electric buses in the provincial capital Lahore.

According to details, the project to run electric buses in Lahore will cost Rs 3 billion and Rs 55 crore. Initially, 50 electric buses will run on different routes.

The buses will be imported from China and the cost of one bus will be Rs 55 million. The operational cost of operating electric buses will be Rs. 23 crore per annum.

7 electric stations will be set up for charging electric buses at a construction cost of Rs. 7 crore.

12 buses will be run on Wapda Town route from the railway station, 4 buses will be run on Saddar route from the railway station and 7 buses will be run on the route of Packages Mall from Shalamar Bagh.

13 electric buses will run from Thokarniaz Beg via Canal Jalomor, 9 electric buses will run from Chauburji Chowk on Shaukat Khanum Hospital route and 5 buses will run from Bhati Chowk on Sarwar Road route.

Each bus will travel more than 100 kilometers on its route.
