The tech giant Apple is progressing its automotive efforts with the self-driving car system and a “breakthrough battery technology”.

Apple has named the project ‘Titan’ which has progressed inconsistently since 2014 when it began to build its own automobile from the scratch.

Formerly, Apple canceled the initiative to concentrate on software at one stage and reassessed its priorities. In 2018, Doug Field, an Apple veteran who had served at Tesla, agreed to supervise the project and laid off 190 team members in 2019.

Apple new secret project includes making electric car for customers, two people familiar with the initiative said, asking not to be identified because the plans of Apple are not public. The objectives of the firm to create a personal vehicle for a wide range of customers conflicts with competitors such as Alphabet’s Waymo, which has designed Robo-taxis for autonomous vehicles ride-hailing service to carry passengers.

The person who witnessed the new battery design of Apple remarked that the battery will “radically” lessen the cost of batteries and expand the range of cars.

However, Apple has refused to discuss its agenda for the upcoming items.

For Apple, it seems like it has a supply chain challenge as it took 17 long years for Elon Musk’s Tesla to eventually make a sustained profit producing vehicles.

An anonymous project official said, “If there is one company on the planet that has the resources to do that, it’s probably Apple. But at the same time, it’s not a cellphone.” He added while commenting on the latest battery technology, “It’s next level. Like the first time, you saw the iPhone.”
