WhatsApp’s new privacy policy created a hue and cry on the internet. A majority of users criticized the new update and decided to switch to alternatives.

WhatsApp is a popular social media platform and has billions of users around the world. However, the new policy let the users reconsider their choice of using platforms.

However, the tech giant has finally answered some “rumors” and has presented its clarifications. Taking to Twitter, it has announced that the revised policy y “does not affect the privacy of messages with friends or family”. “Instead, this update includes changes related to messaging a business on WhatsApp”.

Moreover, WhatsApp also shared a list of information “NOT shared with Facebook”.

According to the official website of WhatsApp, the list contains the following points:

  • WhatsApp cannot see your private messages or hear your calls and neither can Facebook.
  • Advertisement
  • WhatsApp does keep logs of who everyone is messaging or calling.
  • WhatsApp cannot see your shared location and neither can Facebook.
  • WhatsApp does not share your contacts with Facebook.
  • WhatsApp groups remain private.
  • You can set your messages to disappear.
  • You can download your data.

Moreover, the platform also clarified “group privacy”. WhatsApp mentioned, “We don’t share this data with Facebook for ads. Again, these private chats are end-to-end encrypted so we can’t see their content.”

For “additional privacy”, it suggested users change message settings to “disappear from chats after you send them”.
