Federal Minister for Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that regarding the new privacy policy of WhatsApp, the Ministry of Science and Technology is considering a strict law to protect the privacy of citizens.

On the beginning of this week, WhatsApp began changing its privacy policy and sent notifications within the app, changing the terms and conditions and the privacy policy for using the application.

WhatsApp’s new rules and privacy policy will take effect on February 8, 2021, and users will have to accept them, otherwise, their accounts will be deleted.

The notification sent by the company stated that WhatsApp is updating its terms and conditions and privacy policy.

The notification includes key updates that will increase the company’s authority over user data and allow businesses to store and manage WhatsApp chats using Facebook’s services.

Facebook will be able to connect WhatsApp to its other services.

Users who have been using the WhatsApp for years must agree to these terms and conditions by February 8, 2021, to continue using the application.

However, most of the users are angry over this change of WhatsApp and this anger was also expressed by them on the social networking website Twitter.

And now the Federal Minister of Science and Technology has also expressed concern over this new privacy policy and asked to consider bringing in new laws to protect the rights of citizens.

In a tweet on social networking site Twitter, Fawad Chaudhry said that the WhatsApp privacy policy allows data sharing of users’ sensitive information.

He said the Ministry of Science and Technology was considering introducing a strong law to protect data for the protection of citizens’ privacy policy.

The Federal Minister said that such policy changes should be brought after extensive consultation instead of a one-sided approach.

WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart has tried to explain that users will not be affected by the new policy.

“With end-to-end encryption, we cannot see your private chats or calls and neither can Facebook. We’re committed to this technology and committed to defending it globally,” he said.
