Messaging app ‘signal’ stopped working in china

The famous messaging application Signal stopped working in the People’s Republic of China as this was the last US app freely working in the country.

According to the reports, users in China were unable to access the application without a virtual private network (VPN).

The website of the Signal has been banned since 15th march, however, the app is still available in China’s App Store.

The IOS platform version of the app has been downloaded about 510,000 times in China according to research firm Sensor Tower, while can’t trace the downloads on Google Play Store because of the unavailability of the Play Store in China.

According to Sensor Tower, the app has crossed over 100 million users around the world with both Android and Apple App stores combined.

Signal has stopped working without a VPN rarely before, while service resumed afterward.

The Surge in downloads in the Signal app because of the privacy policy issue from WhatsApp, many users around the world have switched to Signal or Telegram as an alternate messaging app.
