The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), has caught a spectacular image of a black hole jet in Centaurus A.

The huge virtual telescope effectively focuses a large number of dishes at the same time towards a celestial object and precisely time stamps the data from each one with an atomic clock. These are eventually reassembled using giant computing clusters.

Centaurus A has been examined extensively over the electromagnetic spectrum by astronomers. A range of radio, infrared, optical, X-ray, and gamma-ray observatories were used to study.

The black hole at its center has a mass of 55 million suns; the jet from this entity has now been captured at a tenfold greater frequency and 16 times sharper resolution than all prior high-resolution images.
