Social media giant Twitter announced on Tuesday, that it is undergoing tests for a cricket tab on explore page in India. This new tab will be dedicated only to cricket, where Indian cricket fans can explore all the latest updates about their favourite IPL teams and players. This tab will also feature live match scores, latest tweets from cricket fans and video highlights of latest games.

They have also introduced custom emojis for IPL teams in English and seven regional languages to engage more Indian cricket fans. This move has also helped cricket fans express their views about their favourite teams in more fun way. The Cricket tab will also feature content widgets like top players and team rankings.

Twitter has joined hands with Star Sports for expert AMA sessions, franchise content, and in-studio action in English and few regional languages, such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

This is not the first time that Twitter is rolling out new features for cricket fans, they have launched similar features during last year’s Cricket World Cup. It also brought the World Cup timeline in the past to provide latest updates on a dedicated screen.

According to stats, 75 percent of Twitter users in India are identified as cricket fans, while 58 percent play the sport. The company also claimed that between January 2021 and 2022, 4.4 million users on its platform shared 96.2 million tweets about cricket.
