WhatsApp is currently testing a 2GB file transfer limit between users according to WABetaInfo.

WhatsApp’s has allowed users to share media files within conversations since 2017, which includes images, videos, documents, links, others etc.

Currently, the file size limit is 100MB and has remained unchanged over the years. This has given an opportunity to other apps which are attracting users who want to share large files.

WABetaInfo shared two screenshots, which shows that the Meta-owned service has been testing a new 2GB file size limit for some users in Argentina over the past few days.

By introducing this, users would be able to share video clips and other large media files, all of which would be transmitted via WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption.

It is not clear when this will be released as Whatsapp frequently conducts trials of new features and there is a strong chance that Whatsapp will release this feature in future.
