AT&T provides mobile services. Customers on AT&T may now play a cloud-streamed version of Control Ultimate Edition in their browser, thanks to Google’s Stadia white-label technology.

Customers with an AT&T postpaid subscription can play by going to this website on a computer or mobile device and inputting their phone number and billing zip code.

Control is AT&T’s second engagement with Stadia’s technology, which Google markets as Immersive Stream for Games. The first was a demo of Batman: Arkham Knight, which was released last year for AT&T subscribers but only works on a computer.

However, AT&T’s Control offering isn’t a demo; it’s the whole game, according to the corporation. Because it’s the Ultimate Edition, you’ll get all of the game’s post-launch features as well.

AT&T is also hinting at possibly greater cloud gaming plans. The business notes in a blog post about the Control announcement:

What might this possibly lead to? We believe that in the future, publishers will be able to provide limited-time play sessions right from a search result, thanks to the combination of 5G connection and cloud streaming technologies.

This allows gamers to test before purchasing. If customers purchase the product, their progress will be preserved in the cloud, allowing them to resume where they left off on the downloaded version.

This looks like AT&T could create its own gaming shop where you can experience samples of games streamed directly from the cloud, and your progress will be carried over if you opt to buy the complete game. AT&T currently lacks this capability. It’s not the most original concept – Gaikai, a cloud gaming business acquired by PlayStation, had a similar pitch — but we’ve contacted AT&T for additional information.
