The company has secretly released a Moto G71s in China, but a quick check of the specifications reveals that it is substantially identical to the G71.

We’re not sure what prompted the name change, but we do know that it’s a little upgrade over last year’s G71.

The Moto G71s’ AMOLED display has been increased to 6.6″ from 6.4″ on the original. In addition, the new display has a 120Hz refresh rate (up from 60Hz) and FHD+ resolution.

The display supports DCI-P3 and NTSC colour standards, as well as DC dimming.Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos compatibility are also available for entertainment.

Aside from that, the phone is still running on ancient technology, with the Snapdragon 695 processor.

This one starts with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, skipping the lower capacity choices. The phone comes pre-installed with Android 12. (with My UX 3.0).

Despite the bigger display, the battery capacity (5,000mAh) and charging speed (33W) remain the same.

The rear cameras are identical, starting with the 50MP primary module, which has OIS and a sensor with 4-in-1 pixel binning (for 1.28 million pixels).

The 8MP super wide-angle (121°) camera and a 2MP macro camera are placed next to it. The front-facing 16MP selfie camera has an incredibly wide 105° lens.

The final point to discuss is the cost. For the time being, this appears to be limited to China Mobile, and the 8/128GB variant costs CNY 1,700 ($250/€240/$19,500).
