China’s space mission Cheng E5 has discovered water on the surface of the moon, and this is the first time scientists have discovered fluid at a location on Earth’s satellite.

In a study published in the journal Science Advances, Chinese scientists reported that Cheng E5 Lander discovered water molecules, or hydroxyl, a close cousin chemical of H2O.

The analysis found that the accumulation of water on the surface of the moon is less than 120 parts per million, which indicates that the surface of the moon is much drier than the earth.
