An improvement over the S9’s 8MP front-facing camera was the Samsung Galaxy S10, which was released in 2019. On the S21 and S22 series smartphones, this selfie camera, however, has not altered (except the Ultra models). However, according to a recent source, Samsung is considering switching to 12MP cameras for the following year.

The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ may have 12MP selfie cameras, according to the Dutch newspaper GalaxyClub. It’s not yet known whether these will go under the display or inside punch holes. The existence of OIS for front cameras is also unknown.

It’s also not clear if the selfie camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra will increase in megapixel count from the S22 Ultra’s 40MP or stay the same.

Expect to learn more about the lineup in the months ahead since there is still plenty of time before the Galaxy S23 series launches.
