Telecom companies have raised the alarm and warned of adopting phone Call Loadshedding’ across the country; akin to power outages, following a major tax rise.

Telecommunications authorities told senators during a hearing of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance that; like power, phone call loadshedding will take place the next day.

Members of the Senate’s standing committee on communications were informed by representatives from the telecom firms.

“We demand a reduction in the advance tax on fibre optic imports to 8%.” The equipment used in the telecom business has been classified as a luxury item. Import duties have also been increased by 20%.”

They claimed that only 10% of Pakistan’s towers were outfitted with fibre optics. As a result of the challenging telecom decisions; we will lose the global race.
