Nasa found a rocket on the moon which is Astronomers observed a rocket body headed for a March 4 lunar collision last year. NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter saw the 18-metre-diameter easter crater and 16-metre-diameter western crater.

Double crater creation suggests the rocket had huge masses at both end. A expended rocket usually has a motor at one end and an empty fuel tank . The twofold form of the crater could assist determine the origin of the rocket that produced it.

No other Moon rocket strikes have created double craters. The four irregular craters formed by the third stage of the Saturn rockets that propelled Apollo missions (Apollo 13, 14, 15, 17) were more than 35 meters in diameter. The mystery rocket’s 29-meter-wide double crater was similar to Saturn’s.

Even before, UA’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory thought it was from a 2014 Chinese rocket booster. NASA denies.

“A Chinese rocket matched a SpaceX rocket. March’s Space Domain Awareness lab co-leader Vishnu Reddy said so.

The booster was thought to be for a 2015 SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, but it’s for Chang’E 5-T1, launched in 2014 as part of China’s lunar exploration programmed.
